Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist
What CAPS Means for Your Family
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation is awarded by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and represents specialized training in home safety, accessibility, and aging-in-place best practices. We don’t offer general remodeling, and we don’t chase trends. Our certification supports a deliberately narrow focus:
- Fall prevention and mobility safety
- Bathroom, stair, and entryway modifications
- Accessibility for wheelchairs, walkers, and changing mobility
- Planning that adapts as needs change

Funding Help
Ways to Pay
You may not have to pay for all of it yourself. Home safety and accessibility modifications can qualify for outside funding, depending on your situation:
- Veterans — VA grants such as HISA and, for service-connected disabilities, SAH/SHA can help pay for home modifications
- Minnesota waiver programs — Medicaid waivers including the Elderly Waiver, CADI, Brain Injury, and DD waivers can cover accessibility adaptations for eligible participants
- Long-term care insurance — some policies include home modification benefits
- Workers' compensation — injuries on the job may qualify for covered home adaptations
Eligibility varies, and we’re not a funding agency — but we’ll help you understand what to ask, and we can provide the documentation and quotes these programs typically require.
